New MTS Temposonics® GBS Product Scores High in Gas and Steam Power Station Applications
MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), a leading global supplier of test systems and position sensors, announced today that the Sensors Division introduced the Temposonics® GBS position sensor, designed to meet the special needs of gas and steam power stations.
In order to meet customer expectations, position sensors installed in gas and steam power stations have to be robust, durable and resistant to high temperature environments. These are exactly the requirements for which MTS Sensors has developed the new Temposonics® GBS magnetostrictive position sensor.
The GBS sensor can be used at an operating temperature of up to 90 °C and optionally up to 100 °C. The rod-shaped sensor is not only programmable using the cabinet and hand-programmer unit, or via USB port using the computer, it is also suitable for wireless communication via Bluetooth. This feature facilitates commissioning and maintenance. The new sensor is flat and compact and can be easily installed under restricted space conditions. As experience shows, turbines are an application comprised of high quantities of electronics modules that are packaged in very little space so the GBS sensor’s high immunity to interference is an enormous performance advantage.
The GBS sensor offers protection mode IP67 with adapted connector or protection to IP68 for models with cable output. Temposonics® GBS sensors are available with a measuring length between 25 and 3250 mm. The individual components are robust, resistant to pressure, wear-free and thus, highly durable.
