MTS Temposonics® R-Series Position Sensor Supports Ethernet Powerlink
MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), a leading global supplier of test systems and position sensors, announced today that the Sensors Division introduced the Ethernet Powerlink interface to its portfolio of magnetostrictive linear position sensors.
The Temposonics® R-Series with the new output provides real-time feedback and is the preferred sensing solution in dynamic applications with short cycle times.
Temposonics® R-Series Powerlink Sensors can easily be integrated into networks using the Powerlink V2 open protocol with M12 connector. The Node-ID can be entered via the software. Therefore, the sensor can be integrated into the network without further programming. The PLC identifies the sensor by means of XDD file and accesses its parameters as needed. Diagnostic LEDs on the sensor head provide service personnel both visual Ethernet communication status and sensor operation.
The sensor with aluminium profile used for the external mounting on the machine is available with a measuring length from 25 mm to 5000 mm. To enable cylinder integration, the rod version can be ordered with a measuring length up to 7600 mm. Also available with Powerlink protocol: The Flexible Rod sensor and the sensor with external industrial housing. The sensors detect up to four positions and velocity values with a resolution of 1 µm simultaneously. Superior control is guaranteed, even in the most complex applications.
